Privacy notice
This is the privacy notice for Glasgow Hearing, the website at glasgowhearingaids.co.uk. It explains what happens to your information when you read these pages or send us an enquiry about a hearing test. Glasgow Hearing Aids is the organisation responsible for deciding how that information is used, and once you send an enquiry, a specialist firm covering your area will contact you directly.
Who runs this site
Glasgow Hearing Aids publishes Glasgow Hearing and decides how any enquiry you send us is used. If you have a question about your own information, the contact page on this site is where to ask, that's the route we offer rather than a printed address or phone line.
What an enquiry tells us
When you fill in our enquiry form, you give us your name, your email address, your phone number, your postcode or address, and a few lines about the hearing difficulty you want help with. The form is delivered by Basin (usebasin.com), who passes it straight to us. If you want to attach a photograph, here's what we ask: Please do not send photographs that show people. If one does, we delete the photograph. Anything you send us afterwards, by email or by phone, becomes part of the same enquiry, and the network that delivers this site also keeps routine technical logs, such as your IP address and the date and time of your visit.
Putting that information to work
The first reason is simple: To answer your enquiry and pass it to one specialist covering your area, which is what you ask us to do when you send it. Our legitimate interest is in answering the people who contact us and in running the enquiry service, for which the specialist pays us. We have assessed that this does not override your interests, because you have asked us to pass your enquiry on and you can take your enquiry elsewhere at any time. We also keep a record of what was said, in case either side needs to refer back to it, and we use technical logs to help keep this site secure and working as it should. Where the law places a duty on us, we may use your information to meet it. Here's what we don't do with it: no marketing, no profiling, no automated decisions, and no selling your details to anyone. As for who else sees your enquiry: Your enquiry, with the details you gave, is passed to one specialist firm covering the area you told us about, so that they can contact you about it. They use it only to answer your enquiry and to arrange any visit or work you agree with them, and from that point they are responsible for how they handle it. We do not pass your details to anyone else for their own use.
Help from other providers
We don't run every part of this website ourselves, so other organisations are involved in getting your enquiry to us and keeping the site working. Basin delivers the enquiry form; Bunny serves the pages; Namecheap provides our email; and Google supplies the typefaces the pages are set in, so your browser requests those files from Google. Each of them handles it only to do that job for us. We would also give information to a regulator, the police or a court where the law required it, and to nobody else.
Where the information physically sits
Because of how this site is delivered, your information might be stored or pass through computers outside the UK. The network that serves the pages holds its technical logs in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States. The form service operates from the United States and is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
When we delete what we hold
We don't keep an enquiry indefinitely, and the rule we apply is fixed rather than judged case by case. We keep an enquiry for twelve months from the last contact about it, so that we can answer a later question about what was said and who it went to. After that it is deleted from the form service and from our email, and any backup copy is overwritten on the provider's normal cycle. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time. The network that serves the pages keeps its technical logs for no more than 3 days.
Protecting what you send us
Every page on this site, and the enquiry form itself, travels over an encrypted connection, so what you send can't easily be read in transit. Inside our organisation, only the people who need to deal with your enquiry, or who look after the systems it depends on, are able to see it.
Exercising your rights
You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy; to have it corrected; to have it deleted; to restrict how we use it; to object to our using it; and to receive what you gave us in a form you can take elsewhere. Ask through the contact page and we answer within one month, without charge; we may ask you to confirm who you are. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we would rather you told us first. If you'd rather raise a concern with someone outside this website, here's how: If you complain to us about how we have handled your personal information, we acknowledge it within 30 days and reply as soon as we can.
Enquiries from children
This site is written for adults deciding about their own hearing, or arranging help for someone in their care. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen, and if we discover that a child has sent us an enquiry, we'll delete it rather than pass it on.
No tracking on this site
This site doesn't set any cookies of its own, and we don't run analytics or advertising trackers of any kind. Nothing here watches what you do elsewhere online.
Updates to this notice
We may update this notice if the way we handle enquiries changes, or if the law around it does. Whatever version is showing on this page is the one that currently applies.
